Creator Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
This policy covers creator.octodius.com: applying to be a Creator and using the Creator Studio. Everything else about your Octodius account is covered by the main Octodius Privacy Policy. Octodius is operated by Matthew Dhlamini, based in South Africa ("Octodius", "we", "us").
What we collect here
Your application. What you choose to create, your first idea, links to your work, your experience and topics, the date you applied, and whether it was approved or declined.
What you write. Posts and projects you save in the Creator Studio, including drafts, and the images and files you upload with them.
Credit details. Published content shows the name, username and profile picture from your Octodius account, and links to your profile.
View statistics. We count views of your published content and show you the totals. We don't show you who viewed it.
Drafts on your device. The editor autosaves what you are writing in your browser's local storage, so a closed tab doesn't lose your work. That copy stays on your device.
The sign-in cookie. You sign in once for both octodius.com and creator.octodius.com: one essential cookie, set on octodius.com, keeps you signed in on both. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Not yet collected. We don't collect payout, tax or bank details. If a payout program starts, we will update this policy before we ask for them.
Why we use it
- To review your application and tell you the result.
- To give approved Creators access to the Studio, and to review, publish and credit what they write.
- To show you how your content is doing.
- To contact you about your application, your content or changes to the Creator terms.
We don't sell your personal data.
Who can see it
- Us, when reviewing applications and content.
- Everyone, for content once it is published, with your author credit.
- Our processors: Supabase (authentication, database and file storage) and Vercel (hosting this site, which keeps short-lived request logs).
How long we keep it
Applications are kept while your account exists, so we can see your earlier applications if you apply again. Content is kept while it is published or saved as a draft. When you delete your account, we delete this data within a reasonable period, except published content we are asked to keep under the Creator terms, or records the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, if you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR. Email hello@octodius.com.
Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will update the date above.
This policy describes what we do in plain language and isn't legal advice.
