How it works
Four steps from an idea to published work. Every application and every piece is read by a person, not filtered by a score.
- 1
Apply
- Sign in with your Octodius account (or create one; it's free) and fill in the short application.
- Choose blog posts, projects or both, describe your first idea and who it's for, and link up to five examples of your work: a GitHub profile, a blog, a talk.
- You can have one application open at a time, and you can't edit it once it's sent, so check it first.
- 2
Review
- We look for clear writing, working code, and a topic our readers need.
- The result appears on your application page. If it isn't approved, you can apply again.
- 3
Write
- The Creator Studio has a Markdown editor with a live preview, autosave, image uploads and fields for tags and summaries.
- Everything you write is saved as a draft. The Studio opens to approved creators in stages as the program launches.
- Check your work against the creator guidelines before you submit.
- 4
Publish
- A reviewer reads it, runs the code and checks sources, then accepts it, asks for changes, or declines it with the reason.
- Expect at most two rounds of changes. Published work is credited to you, and you can see its views in the Studio.
About payment
Creator payouts are planned but not live. Nothing you write now earns a payment unless we agree it with you separately. Before any payout program starts, we will publish its terms, and they will apply only to creators who accept them. See the Creator terms.
